Security & Defence aspects of Budget 2021
I raised a number of issues relating to the Security & Defence aspects of Budget 2021 including –
Increase in Garda numbers with the intake of 620 new trainees and a big investment in the vehicle fleet. Garda Infrastructure – need to invest from a refurbishment and new build perspective across the country, in particular, the need for a National Garda Síochána Museum. The National Cyber Security Centre.Improvement in Defence spending of €32 million. The need to be more creative in how we address Defence spending in order to deal with problems such as dereliction, lack of accommodation, need for a new school in the Curragh and investment in the Military College in the Curragh. The Air-Sea Rescue Contract.
