Public Meeting: Urban Regeneration of Portarlington Town

The Portarlington Business Association will hold a Public Meeting (Webinar) on Tuesday, 20 October, at 7pm on Urban Regeneration of Portarlington Town.

The meeting will be addressed by Simon Wall, Architect with Mayo County Council, who was deeply involved with the transformation of Westport from a coastal town in decline to one of Ireland’s most vibrant and successful towns.

A main component of the town’s success has been its ability to direct development to serve the interests of the town rather than developer led interests, utilising a comprehensive Town Design Statement supported by strong local government and community involvement.

Simon presents extensively on Westport as a positive template for urban regeneration and will speak specifically about the opportunities and challenges for the regeneration of Portarlington.
