Thurs, 16 July 2020 | Estimates for Public Services 2020 – Education and Skills (Revised)

This afternoon in the Dáil, I raised various issues with the Minister for Education and Skills, Norma Foley.

The importance of the school building programme from a post-primary point of view, particularly in Kildare South. Coláiste Íosagáin in Portarlington is creeking at the seams, St. Paul’s in Monasterevin is in dire need of a rebuild and a new post-primary school is urgently required in the Curragh, Newbridge and Athgarvan area to deal with chronic capacity issues.

I welcomed the creation of the new Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.

I raised concerns about the fact there is not yet a published plan for the reopening of schools in just over five weeks time.
