Deputy Cathal Berry, TD for Kildare South, highlighted various issues in the Dáil this week in relation to the Curragh Camp, such as housing and derelict buildings, with Minister for Defence Simon Coveney.
Deputy Berry said that “anyone who has lived or worked in the Curragh has an emotional attachment to the place. It’s heartbreaking to see the current state of many of the historic buildings there. No other town in the country would be expected to put up with this.”
He added that “I’ll be insisting on increased resources in the October budget to address the problem. A whole of government approach is now urgently required.”
