Great to get further confirmation from the Department of Education and Skills today for three South Kildare school extension projects including St. Marks Special School Newbridge, Patrician Post Primary School Newbridge and Cross & Passion Kilcullen.
St. Mark’s Special School, Newbridge – 14 classrooms – New build replacement school.
Patrician Post Primary, Newbridge – 1000 students – New build replacement school including a 4 classroom base for children with special educational needs.
Cross & Passion, Kilcullen – 1000 students – An extension & refurbishment of the existing school including a 4 classroom base for children with special educational needs.
This is certainly a positive development for the constituency. The shortage of secondary school places in Kildare South has been an ongoing issue for a number of years. The only definitive solution is to build a new secondary school for the Curragh/Newbridge/Kildare area as the existing school in the Curragh Camp is not fit for purpose. I will continue to work on and highlight this issue.
