This week I attended a conference call with Tourism Minister Catherine Martin, Into Kildare and other local TDs and Senators, to discuss a specific financial support package to help the Tourism and Hospitality sector in Kildare during this difficult time for many businesses following the recent extension of Covid-19 restrictions. It was great to liaise directly with the Minister and local representatives on this to highlight the need for additional funding and supports for Kildare.
Yesterday I also attended a conference call with the Minister for Education, Norma Foley, to highlight the many challenges facing schools, teachers and pupils in our communities in Kildare. The Minister outlined a variety of measures in place and supports available at this crucial time for children returning to school. We had a very positive meeting and there was a cross-party agreement that the primary focus must be on ensuring a safe return to school for all pupils following the last number of months out of school.
Great to see all local representatives working together, wearing the white Kildare jersey to ensure the best for the county.
