Thurs 7th May 2020: Questions with the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government.

Yesterday in the Dáil, I raised a number of important issues relating to housing with Eoghan Murphy, Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government.

I expressed my support for extending the current rent freeze in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. I also questioned the Minister on vacant houses owned by the banks and shared my concerns in relation to the banks profiting from over 70, 000 mortgage deferrals which is totally unacceptable.

During my questions to the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, I also took the opportunity to raise the important issue of the deficiency of adequate Military Housing for Military Personnel. This was the first time for this issue to be raised with the Minister.
